CCA board re-elects Sitaram president

July 17, 2007

Ottawa — The Board of Directors of the Canadian Co-operative Association (CCA) has re-elected Dave Sitaram, from Credit Union Central of Ontario, as President of the association.

This is Sitaram’s third year as CCA President. The election was held June 28, following CCA’s Annual General Meeting on June 27.

The board also voted to return the same executive: Claude Gauthier, GROWMARK, Inc. as Vice President; and Norma Tomiczek, Co-op Atlantic, and Jill Kelly, Credit Union Central of British Columbia, as Executive Members.

Returning board members are Jim Johnson, Credit Union Central of Nova Scotia; Clarence Olthius, UFA Co-operative Ltd.; Wayne MacLeod, Credit Union Central of Manitoba; Rene Dumas, Credit Union Central Alberta Ltd., Herb Carlson, Federated Co-operatives Ltd.; and Mary Nirlungayuk, Arctic Co-operatives Ltd.

Three new members joined the board to replace outgoing directors Bill Dobson, Cheryl Loadman, and Mark Goldblatt. They are Sheena Lucas, The Co-operators Group Ltd.; George Keter, Credit Union Central of Saskatchewan; and Nick Sidor, Co-operative Housing Federation of Canada.

“I appreciate the confidence the board has shown in my leadership by re-electing me its president,” Sitaram said. “I am very pleased with the work of the board over the past few years and believe that with the dedication and commitment of our directors, we will continue to strengthen CCA and the Canadian co-operative movement.”
