Co-operatives and credit unions across the country are celebrating their success this week as they mark Co-op Week and on Thursday, Oct. 18 International Credit Union Day.
There will be special events at many credit union branches and co-ops to thank current members and encourage others to join. The theme of this year's activities is Own Your Future.
“Credit unions and co-operatives have a long history in Canada and are a common part of the commercial landscape in big cities and small towns across the country,” Prime Minister Stephen Harper said in a message. “Serving 13 million Canadians is a proud achievement. Your commitment to the social and economic welfare of Canada is truly commendable.”
