Environmental issues discussed during Members’ Forum

August 1, 2007

The challenge and opportunities of meeting environmental sustainability were discussed during the Members’ Forum at the 2007 World Credit Union Conference in Calgary.
The session, moderated by Daniel Burns, a director of Canadian Central,  featured presentations from Kimberley Ney, Senior Vice-President of marketing, communications and Corporate Social Responsibility, Alterna Savings; Gail Stepanik-Keber, Vice-President, Marketing, Servus Credit Union in Alberta; Catherine Ludgate, Manager of Community Business Programs, Vancity Credit Union, Vancouver; and Phylip Doughty, chief executive officer of mecu Ltd., one of the largest credit unions in Australia.
The session also included discussions of environmental issues by hundreds of delegates in small groups. A report on their written comments will be available on Canadian Central’s website in the future.
The presenters discussed efforts their credit unions have taken and are planning to become more environmentally sustainable.
