A new Internet domain extension will be available for registration starting Dec. 3. The new .tel domain is expected to permit easy sharing and updating of contact information.
Credit unions and other organizations with trademarks will be able to register their names in this domain extension from Dec. 3 until Feb. 2, 2009. After Feb. 2 the names will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis.
"With anticipated high demand for this unique domain name," says Thomas Savundra, President & CEO of Netfirms Inc., "We encourage all trademark holders to immediately register their 'brandname.tel' domains not only to protect their brand names but also to take advantage of having an online business card with all of their contact information under one domain name."
Acting as the ultimate online business directory, .TEL pages can be set up to contain business e-mail addresses, address, fax numbers, phone numbers, networks, websites, instant messenger information and more.
